Ask this mantis, standing on the edge of its own existence munching one of this colony’s soldiers, unburdened by the fact that at any moment, they could all descend upon and make a meal of her.

When death could arrive at any moment, there is little choice but to ride as close to the flames as possible… and you can’t get much closer than that.
