OCCO - I AM (lyric video)

"I AM" is the 7th song off my album “ROLL OUT THE FOG!” and the second single that was released.

i wrote the song at the breaking of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. the song follows the narrative of a dictator being betrayed by his cronies and then deposed by his citizens. as i watched the news, i wondered what it must be like to be in Putin's position. such few people end up in his position, total power over his country/empire, with a populace that both admires and hates him. i wondered what it must be like to live in constant paranoia, in fear of your own people betraying you, the anxiety of other nations threatening war. without justifying his decisions, i explore if there is any humanity we can afford to spend on people like him.

the music is inspired by the Voidz (the bass) and Tame Impala (the choruses). i got a Pipa player and Violin player on the track, Japanese drums, french horn and conch shell in the chorus, lots of foley for a cinematic atmosphere. the melodies of the songs just flowed out so naturally that i questioned whether this was stolen. comment below if you think I'm a thief!
