The Anomaly - Mesa Boogie Prototype 150 watt RevC Dual Rectifier

That’s right, it’s finally happening. After all these years of owning The Anomaly, here are some tones.

Every amplifier nerd is beside themselves the day they hear this amp even exists. Interestingly and somewhat surprisingly, this amp is pretty much as far from a Recto as it could be, while also retaining all the good things about a Recto that everyone actually likes.

With Mesa’s earliest designed production preamp, this particular rectifier is aggressive, open and raw. These are typically characteristics that are found in most Soldano SLO100, but with the tighter, punchier and bigger bottom end than any SLO100. Unlike a lot of other rectifiers, this rectifier throws the low end across the room, while simultaneously, the low end also sits right in front of the speaker cabinet similar to a Mesa Boogie Mark Series.

Everything from crunchy rock goodness, to heavy articulated rhythm, to balanced and soaring lead playing, it’s a Rectifier that can do all of that without any help. Rolling back your guitar volume showcases this amplifier’s high gain channel that can also clean up, resembling more of a Fender style clean. Roll your guitar volume up and it’s gain bliss.

The Anomaly, the Revision C, 150 watt prototype Dual Rectifier.

From Fluff’s website of Early Mesa Boogie Rectifier goodness, you’ll discover the research that has been done and discover more from the man that built this amp himself, Mike B.
