President Biden warns new army officers to be ‘guardians of American democracy’

President Joe Biden addressed the graduating class of the West Point military academy, calling them the “guardians of American democracy.”

Speaking to about 1,000 cadets, Biden highlighted the unprecedented threats to US freedom without directly mentioning Donald Trump.

He emphasized that their military oath is to the Constitution, not a political party or president, and urged them to defend key freedoms such as the right to vote, worship, and protest.

Biden acknowledged the complex global challenges the graduates will face, stating they are entering a world with unprecedented demands on the US military, The Guardian has reported.
