Donald Trump given thunderous welcome at NASCAR race

Former US president Donald Trump was welcomed warmly by spectators at NASCAR's Coca-Cola 600 race on Sunday.

It was the former president's second time attending a race since February 2020, when he served as grand marshal of the Daytona 500.

This year's Coco-Cola 600 will be held at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina

The 45th US president walked around Pit Lane as spectators and supporters cheered on the 77-year-old

Trump's appearance at the race, held in the battleground state of North Carolina, comes as he intends to secure it ahead of the November 5 election.

In the 2020 presidential election, the former president won the state by 50.1 per cent.
