Euthyroid Sick Syndrome (also known as Sick Euthyroid Syndrome or Nonthyroidal Illness Syndrome) is a clinical finding of abnormal thyroid hormone levels in patients who are experiencing another underlying nonthyroidal illness such as liver disease, cardiovascular disease and cancer. In this lesson, we discuss why these changes in thyroid hormone levels occur, the clinical features that can occur and how this is diagnosed and treated.
