Endometrial Cancer | Risk Factors, Pathogenesis, Signs & Symptoms, Diagnosis, Treatment, Prevention

Endometrial Cancer (also known as Endometrial Carcinoma or Corpus Cancer) is a cancer of the endometrium, which is the inner lining of the uterus where embryo implantation occurs. There are two types of Endometrial Cancer, Type 1 and Type 2. Type 1 is by far the most common type, and this type is due to excessive exposure to estrogen. Endometrial Cancer starts out as an abnormal but precancerous thickening of the endometrium, known as endometrial hyperplasia. There are various risk factors for getting endometrial cancer, including early menarche, late menopause and having polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). In this lesson, we discuss all of the risk factors, the different types of endometrial cancer, the signs and symptoms, how it’s diagnosed and how it’s treated.
