A new device to help reduce the time cancer patientsspend in hospital has been given regulatory approval.

The Liberty allows patients to take blood tests andupload the results at home without supervision.

Patients said it has allowed them to cut down ondraining hospital visits, while clinicians havesuggested it could boost NHS productivity.

However, Cancer Research UK said it has so far onlybeen trialled on a small number of people.

The charity added more work is needed before weknow whether it can be used more widely in cancer care.
