Tensions soar in the Taiwan Strait as China conducts its "punishment drills" near the island nation. The drills are seen as a response to Taiwan's new president, Lai Ching-te, whom Beijing considers a "dangerous separatist". China launched these drills just two days after Lai took his oath of office. Recently, Chinese state broadcaster CCTV released an animated video depicting a missile strike on Taiwanese cities. The exercises are also seen as a warning to the US, which supplies Taiwan with military aid. Chinese President Xi Jinping has previously warned the US not to interfere in China's "red line" on Taiwan. Mohit Mishra tells you more.
