Day 107 of Sobriety: Time for the Next Challenge | Quitting Smoking & Regaining Flexibility

Today, on Day 107 of my sobriety journey, I faced some computer issues and had to edit on my phone and record sound with my iPhone. Despite these challenges, I'm committed to my promise of posting one video every day. This promise is to myself, and I intend to keep it.

Due to the technical problems, today's video is just me talking. I've been feeling tired recently and realized that I need to stop smoking Sri Lankan bidis (Thora). I've been a nicotine addict since my early teenage years and have always mixed tobacco with my spliffs. Even while playing sports, I smoked or used Swedish snus. Unfortunately, there's no snus available in Sri Lanka, and I don't like smoking cigarettes. But it's time to quit!

I also want to regain the flexibility I lost due to sarcoidosis. The heavy medication affected my joints, and I wasn't motivated to stretch while I was sick. Now, I'm setting up a program to regain my flexibility. My goal is to achieve the middle split and get my hips flexible again. I believe stretching will help me manage the urges as I quit nicotine.

I will document my stretching journey daily with YouTube Shorts, similar to my sobriety videos but in short form. My goals include achieving sitting comfortable in the squat for at least 20 min, a split, and touching my elbows to the ground while standing straight and bending forward. I'll start with a 30-day commitment, and after completing that, I'll set a new promise for another 30 days until I reach my goal. This new challenge starts on Monday, May 27, and it will also give me another tool to help others in my fitness business.
