Oprah Winfrey sex abuse allegations at her South African girl’s school

On October 29, 2007, Oprah Winfrey flew to the south of Johannesburg, South Africa, to beg for forgiveness from parents over sex abuse allegations at her African girls' school. "I've disappointed you," she told the families. "I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry." One pupil said a matron grabbed her by the throat and threw her against a wall. Oprah's school had opened in January of the same year, and she described the day the $46 million school opened as "the proudest, greatest day of my life and a dream come true."
