For quick relief from a toothache, try these home remedies: Rinse with a solution of one teaspoon of salt in warm water for 30 seconds to reduce inflammation and pain. Apply a cold compress by wrapping an ice pack in a towel and holding it against your cheek for 10 minutes to numb the area and reduce swelling. Soothe pain with peppermint tea by steeping one teaspoon of dried peppermint leaves in boiling water for 10 minutes, then rinse your mouth or drink it slowly. Use a diluted three percent hydrogen peroxide solution as a mouthwash to kill bacteria and reduce inflammation. Place a whole clove in your mouth and bite gently, or apply a paste of clove oil and sunflower oil to relieve pain. Apply a mixture of minced garlic and salt to the affected area for its antibacterial and pain-relieving effects. While these remedies can provide temporary relief, consult a dentist if the pain persists or is accompanied by other symptoms.
