Three US service members have been injured during the effort to create the temporary pier off the coast of Gaza to assist in moving humanitarian aid into the region.

One of the service members was injured at sea and has been transported to an Israeli hospital in “critical condition,” according to US officials. No other details were immediately released about that injury.

US Vice Admiral Brad Cooper with US Central Command added that two of the troops have a sprained ankle and a minor back injury.

The information was released hours before the announcement that the bodies of three additional hostages murdered on Oct. 7 had been recovered by the Israel Defense Forces in Gaza. Four other hostages were found dead less than one week earlier.

The International Court of Justice, known as the United Nations World Court, ordered Israel on Friday to immediately end its operation in Rafah. Israeli leadership has said since the start that it does not recognize the ICJ and will not adhere to any ruling.
