Anemia is a condition of low red blood cells (as indicated by low hemoglobin or low hematocrit) that is caused by a wide variety of conditions, including hemolysis, hemorrhage and nutritional deficiencies. The low amount of red blood cells can lead to certain skin findings, and other important causes of anemia can also cause important findings on the skin, nails and mouth. In this lesson, we discuss the more common skin findings that we can see in anemia.
