Thousands without power as storms push through Lincoln

A thunderstorm moving through Lincoln caused thousands of power outages on Friday morning. By 3 a.m., 2,700 Lincoln Electric System customers and 161 Norris Public Power District customers were without power.

The storm, which began in western Nebraska on Thursday evening, produced multiple tornadoes, with 14 reports across the state, including three in Keith County.

The National Weather Service issued tornado warnings for areas in western and northern Lancaster County early Friday, and for Lincoln, Hayes, Hitchcock, and Red Willow counties on Thursday night.

As the storm progressed eastward, warnings were extended to Buffalo, Hall, Adams, Kearney, Franklin, and Webster counties, KLKN TV reported.
