Pasco Watch began as a group very critical of what is happening in the Pasco County Schools. During some of the meetings we attended, going back to 2021 Jessica Wright often spoke and many times we actually thought what she was saying made plenty of sense. At that time, and until I actually had a conversation with her in early Feb 2024 I believed that Jessica was what others told me, someone who thought boys should be able to use girls restrooms, and that we should be teaching young students about alternative sexuality. When we began communicating, I found we actually agreed on many things and single sex bathrooms was one of them. She agree's with some of the hot button legislation passed in the state during the last two legislative sessions.

Over the past 12 years, she has worked on many campaigns for candidates from across the spectrum, Rep/Dem/NPA. Jessica has learned much about the political process and also the Education System in our county and state. She understands how parents can be ignored and made to feel like their family just doesn't matter.

Jessica started teaching Sunday school 17 years ago, has been an Intern, tutor and coach for 15 years and actually teaching in a school setting/virtual for 10 years. Most recently she is a teacher for FLVS, previously she was a teacher in Pasco County Schools. She shared with us that she was a volunteer tutor when she was in HS. Clearly Eduction has been her passion for a very long time, over half her life.

During this conversation she shares with us her thoughts on the District. Do they need more funding? Why are they not transparent with parents? Are we making the correct decisions on which curriculum we should be purchasing? Do we listen to the teachers or another influencer? This is just a small portion of what was discussed at our meeting.

Like I said, I thought Jessica was what was wrong with Education, after getting to know her over the past few months, my thoughts have shifted dramatically. I believe she would be someone who would speak out on the School Board and would be a great addition. She knows an incredible amount about our education system from attending, studying, and teaching and most importantly being a parent of students who attend district schools. At the current time, we have NO Current Parents on the School Board. Two of our board members do not have children at all.
