Pokémon GO is a free-to-play mobile application developed by Niantic for iOS and Android devices. The game was initially released on July 6th 2016. In Pokémon GO, players catch various Pokémon, evolve them using candies, and power up them in order to battle. These Pokémon are mapped to locations in the real world using GPS technology. PokéStops located at various real-world landmarks aid in this by distributing items for use in catching and battling with Pokémon.

Pokémon Eggs are Pokémon-related resources which allow Trainers to obtain Pokémon. Most eggs can be obtained from PokéStops and Gyms around the world. Each owned egg contains a random Pokémon and can be hatched by walking one of five specified distances.

There are five kinds of Pokémon Eggs, with different distances required to be walked. The Trainer must walk with an egg in an Incubator in order for it to hatch. Below is a list of each type of Pokémon Egg and ways to obtain them:

2-km Eggs can be obtained from spinning Photo Discs at Gyms and PokéStops.
5-km Eggs can be obtained from spinning Photo Discs at Gyms and PokéStops, and as an Adventure Sync reward if Trainer walks at least 25 km in a week.
7-km Eggs can be obtained via Gifts received from friends and exchanging gifts with Mateo during a route. They cannot be obtained by spinning the Photo Discs at Gyms or PokéStops.
10-km Eggs can be obtained from spinning Photo Discs at Gyms and PokéStops, and as an Adventure Sync reward if Trainer walks at least 50 km in a week.
12-km Eggs also called Strange Eggs can be obtained by defeating Team GO Rocket Leaders (but not Giovanni). They cannot be obtained by spinning the Photo Discs at Gyms or PokéStops.
