Beloved = dear friends = signals the beginning of a new section, as Peter returns to the subject of suffering by Christians on account of being a Christian. That a trial, persecution, hostility, should come to those who have committed their lives to GOD should not come as a surprise.Salvation does not mean we are exempt from troubles here, this side of Heaven. To be born again into a new spiritual life will inevitably bring about opposition, in both natural and spiritual realms.
14 If you are reviled (ὀνειδίζω oneidizō = insulted) for the name of Christ (specific), you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of GOD rests on you.One form of suffering may be verbal abuse hurled at them, at us, false accusations, because of the association with the name of Christ the Messiah: Yeshua warned of this type of persecution. MAT 5:11, “Blessed are you when people insult (ὀνειδίζω oneidizō) you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of ME.
