"Honesty Rewards"

Once upon a time, nestled at the edge of a whispering forest, stood a cozy cottage (1). Smoke curled from its chimney, a promise of warmth within. Here lived Finn, a kind-hearted woodcutter, with his wife Elara. Though poor as church mice, their love for each other kept their hearts aglow (1).

One crisp morning, Finn set off for the forest with his trusty axe (2). Sunlight dappled the path as he walked, determined to gather enough wood to sell at the market (2). The forest hummed with life – birdsong filled the air, and squirrels scampered through the undergrowth. Finn swung his axe with practiced ease, the rhythmic thud echoing through the trees (3).

Suddenly, disaster struck! With a sickening plop, Finn's axe slipped from his grasp and plunged into the murky depths of a nearby pond (4). Dismay clouded his face as he peered into the greenish water. "Oh no!" he cried. "That was my only axe! Now how will I ever chop wood?" (5).

Just then, a shimmer of gold caught his eye. From the pond rose a magnificent creature – a mermaid with scales the color of sunshine and a crown of sparkling pearls (6). The water shimmered around her, and a mischievous glint sparkled in her emerald eyes (7).
