The Gospel of Thomas has never been incorporated into the New Testament and is widely rejected by the majority of Christians as a legitimate Gospel. In fact, it's more accurately described as a compilation of 114 sayings or logia attributed to Jesus, lacking the narrative structure typical of the Gospels. While around a quarter of these sayings overlap with those found in the canonical Gospels, the remainder either bear resemblance but have been adapted for Gnostic purposes or are distinctly Gnostic in nature.

Despite claims of apostolic authorship, there is scant evidence to support such attribution, and much evidence to the contrary. One notable discrepancy lies in the cultural context: the sayings in the Gospel of Thomas diverge significantly from the teachings of a Jewish rabbi in 1st-century Palestine, unlike the distinctly Jewish flavor found in the canonical Gospels. This incongruity is indicative of the broader disparities between Gnostic writings and the historical milieu of Jesus' time.

The Gospel of Thomas is NOT part of Holy Scripture and is not from the Word of God. It shouldn't be treated as authoritative or possessing "hidden knowledge." It's advisable to have a firm grasp of the Bible before delving into this text, especially considering its resonance with certain aspects of Hinduism, Buddhism, and other global religions. Its teachings align with Gnostic spirituality, suggesting that the true mystery of human existence lies in recognizing the divine essence within us. Salvation in this context involves understanding ourselves as bearers of divine spark, transcending ignorance and distractions to attain inner bliss. Therefore, this material is best suited for adult audiences to avoid confusion among younger individuals.
