Exploring the symbolism of "through the looking glass" from a christian perspective:

"It's a poor sort of memory that only works backwards" - Lewis Carroll

"For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known." - 1 Corinthians 13:12

"Hast thou with him spread out the sky, which is strong, and as a molten looking glass?" - Job 37:18

Once on the glass you notice with fear.
At once it returns as a small thick tear.
When grasped quickly it brakes but endures,
For the glass plaque by charm inures.
