About Calico Ghost Town:
Calico, founded in 1881, is a former silver mining town located in the Mojave Desert of Southern California. During its peak, it boasted over 500 mines and produced more than $20 million in silver ore. However, by the mid-1890s, the silver prices dropped, and the town was abandoned. In the 1950s, Walter Knott purchased Calico and restored it to its former glory. Today, it stands as a fascinating ghost town, offering visitors a glimpse into the Old West with preserved buildings, mine tours, and historical exhibits.
