Ireland, Norway, and Spain have announced they willrecognise a Palestinian state from 28 may.

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store said atwo-state solution was the "only alternative"; whileIreland's PM Simon Harris said the decision would help create a "peaceful future".

But, while Palestinian leaders welcomed the decision -with the Palestine Liberation Organization calling it a"historic moment" - Israel reacted furiously, saying itwould summon the three countries' ambassadors towatch a video of the 7 October attacks.

At least 140 countries already recognise the state ofPalestine - but not the UK or the US.
