Thieves Steal 60 Birkin Bags Worth $1.8 Million

Brazen masked burglars have torn through a high-end hotel stealing at least $1.8million worth of designer handbags in a late-night raid. Newly released security footage from the Maison Wrist Aficionado shop inside the Setai Hotel on Miami Beach showed two thieves break in on March 22. First they pulled up outside in a work van and broke the lock on the door, then grabbed two green plastic garbage bins and rushed inside. Cameras caught them grabbing everything in sight, including 60 Hermès Birkin handbags worth $20,000 to $35,00 each, and piling them into the bins. Police took just hours to track down the car and its owner Eduardo Travieso Garcia, who allegedly confessed to the whole crime. He was charged with masked burglary, grand theft over $100,000 and unlawful use of a communications device. Garcia, 45, locked up in Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center with his bail set at $100,000.
