Zebras are fascinating wildlife animals known for their distinctive black-and-white striped coats. Belonging to the Equidae family, which also includes horses and donkeys, zebras are native to Africa and are primarily found in savannas, grasslands, and mountainous regions.

There are three main species of zebras:

1. **Plains Zebra (Equus quagga)**: This is the most common and widespread species, recognized by its broad stripes that are more numerous and narrower as compared to other species. They inhabit a variety of ecosystems, from grasslands to savannas.

2. **Mountain Zebra (Equus zebra)**: These zebras are adapted to rugged terrain and are typically found in mountainous areas. They have a distinctive dewlap and more grid-like striping patterns.

3. **Grevy's Zebra (Equus grevyi)**: The largest of the three species, Grevy's zebras have narrow stripes and large, rounded ears. They are primarily found in semi-arid regions and are known for their long-distance migrations in search of food and water.

Zebras are social animals that live in groups called herds or dazzles. Plains zebras, in particular, form large herds that can include multiple family groups.
