Tigers (Panthera tigris) are one of the most iconic and majestic wildlife species in the world. Known for their striking orange coats with black stripes, they are the largest members of the cat family. Tigers are apex predators, primarily hunting large ungulates such as deer and wild boar. They are solitary animals, with each individual maintaining a large territory that it marks and defends.

There are several subspecies of tigers, each adapted to different habitats ranging from the Siberian taiga to the tropical forests of Southeast Asia. These subspecies include the Bengal tiger, Siberian (or Amur) tiger, Indochinese tiger, Malayan tiger, South China tiger, and the Sumatran tiger. Unfortunately, tigers are listed as endangered, with their populations declining due to habitat loss, poaching, and human-wildlife conflict.

Efforts to conserve tigers include anti-poaching measures, habitat preservation, and initiatives to reduce human-tiger conflicts. Organizations worldwide are working to ensure that these magnificent animals continue to roam the wild for generations to come.
