Medical workers in Israel have told the BBC thatPalestinian detainees from Gaza are routinely keptshackled to hospital beds, blindfolded, sometimesnaked, and forced to wear nappies.

A whistle-blower detailed how procedures in onemilitary hospital were "routinely" carried out withoutpainkillers, causing "an unacceptable amount of pain" to detainees.

The Israeli army said detainees at the facility weretreated "appropriately and carefully".

It added in response that handcuffing of detainees inthe Sde Teiman hospital in southern Israel was"examined individually and daily, and carried out incases where the security risk requires it".
