Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi was tragically killed in a helicopter crash on May 19, 2024. The incident occurred in East Azerbaijan province while Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian were returning from an official event. Reports indicate that adverse weather conditions, including heavy fog, contributed to the crash. Both Raisi and Amir-Abdollahian, along with other officials on board, did not survive the crash, which left the helicopter completely burned. The Iranian government has confirmed there is no evidence of foul play, and an investigation is ongoing. Following Raisi's death, First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber has been appointed as the acting president .
