Day 139 | Daily Bible Reading | A Tender Heart for the Lord | 2 Chronicles 32-34

Here, the King of Assyria encamped against Jerusalem, and mocks, repeatedly, the Lord God, taunting the inhabitants that no god can stand before his powerful army. Judah’s King Hezekiah and Isaiah take the problem to God. Read along to see what happened to the mocking king. Then Hezekiah’s son and grandson take turns at being king- each of them doing evil. Then, Josiah becomes king. After finding the book of the Lord’s law given to Moses, and realizing how badly his fathers had transgressed God, and the penalty due for it; Josiah tore his clothes, and wept before the Lord for the sins of his fathers. A prophetess gave a word to Josiah about God’s plan him, because his heart was tender; but an entirely different one for Judah, because of their stubbornness. Read along to see what he was told.
