Canadian women's soccer players Christine Sinclair and Janine Beckie spoke about what they called unfair treatment and unequal pay compared to the men’s national team.

Beckie discussed Canada Soccer's decision to release details of the proposed labour deal with the national team just hours ahead of some of its members testifying before the House of Commons heritage committee. She said the players felt they were disrespected by Canada Soccer releasing the details that afternoon instead of keeping it between the governing body and the teams.

Sinclair said that while they would prefer to be playing on the soccer pitch, they are proud to be testifying in an effort to make soccer better for the next generations.
