Training horses always involves some risk of injury (or even death) to the horse, the trainer, any spectators, equipment used, etc. - this risk is totally your own as you will be making your own judgements on what to do. As with any suggestions on any subject you must weigh them out for yourself and proceed accordingly - at your own risk.

Nutmeg, the 3yr old Gypsy Vanner filly/mare came into training Friday evening 17 May 2024 and her owner led her twice around the small lot fence in both directions to ensure she knew where the fence was. On Saturday 18 May 2024 I did the first training session which also included trimming her hooves. You can see that video here if you would like to - Trimming Nutmeg's hooves 18 May 2024
https://rumble.com/v4w1j2t-trimming-nutmegs-hooves-18-may-2024.html -- This video shows most of the very next training session done mounted on my mare Avi who is my helper horse. I apologize for failing to get the camera angle set optimally at the start. I ended up cutting 19 minutes and 20 seconds of video out due to that time being spent primarily where the viewer could not see what is happening. I initially worked on "controlling herd movement" which is the job of the boss mare in a herd - thus by controlling herd movement the trainee learns that you are the herd boss. This is done just as slow and calm as possible because horses like us humans learn better when we are calm and much more poorly when we are anxious. I then taught Nutmeg to pony (be led off a horse) at a walk and later in the video at a trot. And I also spent some time using a small flag to acclimate Nutmeg to being touched by something unfamiliar and also having something unfamiliar move rapidly near her on either side and on top of her. The flag work starts about 28:40 or so if you want to jump to that.

During much of the video I am too far from the mic to be heard. So ask questions if you have a question come to mind - no need to guess - just ask.

Remember to intentionally, on purpose, learn of God each day by prayerfully reading, studying, and pondering upon God's word each day. Talk to God in prayer as your Heavenly Father who would like for you to be His friend. Find out what He would like you to do for Him as His friend and go and do it for Him as His friend. Yes very intentionally, very much on purpose, become the friend of God. And have a blessed day!!
