The chief prosecutor of the International CriminalCourt (ICC) is seeking arrest warrants for Israeli PrimeMinister Benjamin Netanyahu and Hamas's leader in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar.

He is also seeking the arrest warrants of Hamasleaders Ismail Haniyeh, Mohammed al-Masri, andIsraeli defence minister Yoav Gallant.

Mr Khan said he has "reasonable grounds to believe"the men bear responsibility for war crimes and crimes against humanity.

In the Hamas leaders' case, the alleged crimes begin"from at least 7 October 2023"; in the Israeli leaders' case, "from at least 8 October 2023".

Israeli politicians have condemned the move, calling it"scandalous" and a "political disgrace", while a seniorHamas official said the ICC seeking arrest warrants"equates the victim with the executioner".
