Justice, Revenge, Vengeance. We have scientific knowledge to the point of human extinction, and yet we are increasingly judged morally, politically, socially, by algorithms, or computerized knowledge, that leaves intention, that is human agency, unaddressed. Punishment is automatic simply according to act performed. In other words, we are judged as they were 7000 years ago, to the times of 'The Furies' and 'The Fates'.
Aeschylus 'The Oresteian Trilogy', 1962 ed. translated by Philip Vellacott. In modern times, the Oresteian trilogy has rightly been accorded a place among the greatest achievements of the human mind, dealing with Justice and its relation to Vengeance and due Retribution in the old religions which, in the West, would move to Acceptance, Repentance, Penance and Forgiveness in true Christianity (Catholic and Orthodox).
