Neuschwanstein Castle is one of Germany’s most iconic landmarks, often associated with fairy tales and famous for inspiring Disney’s Sleeping Beauty Castle. Located in Bavaria, near the town of Füssen, this stunning castle was commissioned by Ludwig II of Bavaria as a tribute to Richard Wagner. Although construction began in 1869, the castle was never fully completed due to Ludwig II’s death in 1886.
Perched on a rugged hill with scenic views of the surrounding Alps and forests, Neuschwanstein is known for its Romantic architecture, which is a mix of historicist styles. The interior is equally impressive, featuring intricate murals and luxurious furnishings, though only a few of the rooms were finished. The castle is open to the public, and it’s a major tourist attraction, drawing millions of visitors each year who come to admire its beauty and learn about its history and the fascinating story of its creator.
