The conflict began on a cold, dark winter morning when an emergency call reported a shocking incident at the variety store. Angel's routine night turned fatal, marking the onset of a mystery that would baffle authorities. Fatima Perez, Angel’s mother drove by the store to pick up her son, only to be met by reporters, investigators, and the tragic news of her son’s demise. The discovery of a grainy surveillance video offered a glimmer of hope, capturing the crime but leaving more questions than answers. The quality of the footage offered little in the way of clear identification.

So what was on the footage? It was the brutal execution-style killing of Angel Perez, captured on a low-resolution surveillance tape that barely hinted at the perpetrators' identities. The video depicted a chilling scene — a figure brandishing a long-barreled firearm entered the store, followed by two accomplices, their faces obscured. Within moments, Angel was shot. The culprits went on to hop over the counter and take money, cigarettes, among other things.
