Jacob, meaning "one who supplants" was renamed Israel. Some may translate Israel as, "one who contends/fights with the Most High," but since that can carry negative connotations that are not implied when the name change took place, I believe the more accurate meaning of the name is, "one who strives/prevails with the Most High." The children of Israel eventually turned their back on the Most High, YAH and as a result were destroyed and exiled from the land of Israel. Today, many of us black people worship idols in the lands of our enemies, but when we finally return to worshipping YAH and YAH ONLY, He will return us to the Promised Land so that we can finally dwell in a place of our own. But as we know, Israel is YAH's inheritance and we will inherit the entire earth.
