Who doesn’t like a great high school reunion story of friends? But what if the high school reunion turns out to be filled with numerous twists and turns with people ending up dead and others locked up in the middle of nowhere? Well, ‘Reunion’ is here to give you exactly that. The film has been garnering great feedback from audiences ever since the trailer was released and promises to be a wild high school ride.

Starring Lil Rel Howery, Billy Magnussen, Jillian Bell, Jamie Chung, Michael Hitchcock, Nina Dobrev, Chance Crawford and many others, ‘Reunion’ is all set to leave you wanting for more. Check out the trailer of the film right here:

For the unversed, the story revolves around Lil Rel Howery (‘Get Out’), Billy Magnussen (‘Game Night’), and Jillian Bell (’22 Jump Street’) who come together for a wild ride of twists and turns where a high school reunion gets cut short by murder. Trapped in a snowbound mansion, they race to uncover which one of their old classmates is the killer before they’re all iced out for good. Also starring Jamie Chung (‘Grown Ups’), Michael Hitchcock (‘Veep’) with Nina Dobrev (‘Sick Girl’) and Chace Crawford (‘Gossip Girl’), the film is going to be available to buy on Digital Friday.

From the looks of it, Nina Dobrev seems to have come up with another kickass performance, and this time she has the likes of Billy Magnussen and Lil Rel Howrey to add to the craziness. The fun of high school reunions is definitely something that’s clearly visible in the trailer, and the way things can go wrong is also pretty evident. What’s going to keep you hooked is that you’ll end up picturing yourself in the midst of your high school buddies and think about what you guys would have done had you’ll been in the same situation. It’s always a kickass concept when you are able to get the audience to picture themselves as one of the characters in the film, and that’s exactly what ‘Reunion’ is able to achieve.

‘Reunion’ releases on June 28.
"The killer... is one of us!" Republic Pictures has revealed a trailer for a murder mystery comedy called Reunion, from director Chris Nelson (of Ass Backwards, Date and Switch, The Perfect Date before). This one is set for a direct-to-VOD release in June this summer. After a murder at a high school reunion party, the remaining guests are trapped in a snowbound mansion, not knowing who to trust. They race to uncover which one of their old classmates is the killer before they're all iced out for good. Starring Lil Rel Howery, Billy Magnussen, Jillian Bell, Jamie Chung, Michael Hitchcock, Nina Dobrev, Chace Crawford. This just a movie version of that streaming series The Afterparty, which is already on Season 2. Looks extra cheap, and cheesy, and definitely something to skip over on the VOD options when choosing what to watch.

Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Chris Nelson's film Reunion, direct from Paramount's YouTube:

How Reunion Can Fill The Afterparty-Sized Hole In Your Viewing Schedule

One of the most unique Apple TV+ comedies was The Afterparty, a murder mystery series by Philip Lord and Chris Miller, which used each of its episodes to tell a story from a different character’s perspective. With The Afterparty season 3 canceled, Reunion looks to be a strong choice for viewers in search of a new comedic murder mystery story. The movie may not lean into different genres in the same manner that The Afterparty did, but it certainly has other similarities that should be a draw for that show’s audience.

As seen in the trailer above, Reunion looks to lean heavily into the archetypes of its characters. The setup—and subversion—of obvious character traits are a classic murder mystery trope, and that is something The Afterparty also excelled at. One direct similarity is between Chace Crawford’s character in Reunion (“The Young Millionaire’s Club” in the trailer) and Dave Franco’s character in The Afterparty season 1. Both are wealthy and young men who die during their high school reunions, triggering the hilarity and hijinks that ensue.

Many of the best murder mystery movies and shows also take advantage of a single location as much as possible. This looks to be something else Reunion and The Afterparty have in common—each season of The Afterparty takes place largely in one location, and the synopsis of Reunion suggests all of its main characters will be trapped together in a mansion. The Apple TV+ series may have ended before its time, but Reunion looks to be a promising entry into the genre that should be a satisfying new watch for a range of murder mystery and comedy fans.

Reunion will be available to buy on digital platforms June 28.
Nina Dobrev, Jamie Chung, Michael Hitchcock and Chace Crawford will round out the cast of “Reunion,” an ensemble comedy from Artists Road. They join the previously announced Lil Rel Howery, Billy Magnussen and Jillian Bell in the film about a murder that takes place during a high school reunion party. The story puts a whodunit spin on the genre of awkward, post-graduation gatherings with former classmates — it unfolds during a snowstorm that leaves guests trapped in an isolated mansion. Production begins this week in Los Angles.

Chris Nelson (“The Perfect Date”) is directing the film from a screenplay by the “The Edge of Sleep” writing duo, Jake Emanuel and Willie Block. Producing are Artists Road’s principals, Todd Garner, Ben Silverman, Peter Principato and Mark Korshak as well as Mickey Schiff and Lil Rel Howery. Executive producing are Unique Features’ Bob Shaye alongside Magnussen and Bell.
Peter Oillataguerre, Spyglass’ President of Production, will oversee the project on behalf of Spyglass.

Dobrev’s credits include “XXX:Return of Xander Cage,” “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” and “The Vampire Diaries.” Chung has appeared in “Sucker Punch,” “The Hangover Part II,” “Lovecraft Country,” and the upcoming “Dexter: New Blood.” Hitchcock appeared in such Christopher Guest films as “Best in Show” and “Waiting for Guffman” and recently stole scenes in “Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar” and “Black Monday.” Crawford came to prominence as part of the cast of “Gossip Girl” and can currently be seen on “The Boys.”

By Alex Billington
Mr. Bigstuff Trailer
"We don't run from our problems." Sky TV has revealed an official UK trailer for a comedy series titled Mr. Bigstuff, arriving to watch in the UK starting this July (though no US launch yet). The series stars actor Danny Dyer, best known for his various "tough guy" roles like Moff in Human Traffic, Tommy Johnson in The Football Factory, and Mick Carter in Eastenders. When two estranged brothers Glen (Ryan Sampson) and Lee (Danny Dyer) find themselves under one roof in "idyllic" suburbia, their lives start to unravel faster than a cheap carpet. Glen is a nervy perfectionist and carpet salesman striving to live a suburban ideal and Lee is an alpha male with a prescription drug addiction and a tin full of their dad's ashes. Written & created by Ryan Sampson, this "relatable, irreverent comedy about brotherhood, manhood and carpet sales" is set in Essex. Also with Harriet Webb, Adrian Scarborough, Fatiha El Ghorri, Ned Dennehy, Victoria Alcock, Geoff Bell, Nitin Ganatra, Judi Love, and more. This looks like kooky, wacky fun! Check it out.

By Alex Billington
Summer Camp Trailer
"You're too lovable to hate." Awwww. Roadside Attractions has revealed the official trailer for a summer comedy called Summer Camp, hitting theaters at the end of May for everyone to enjoy. Back in the early 2000s this would've been the kind of movie that a studio would've promoted a summer blockbuster, but now it's just a simple release from Roadside. Summer Camp follows Nora, Ginny, and Mary, three childhood best friends who used to spend every summer at a sleep away camp together. After years apart seeing each other less & less, when the opportunity to get back together for a summer camp reunion presents itself, they all seize it and head off for an adventure together. Getting into all kinds of trouble camp trouble, or so it seems! Rafting, zip lines, food fights, and more shenanigans. This stars Diane Keaton as Nora, Kathy Bates as Ginny, and Alfre Woodard as Mary, along with Dennis Haysbert, Eugene Levy, Josh Peck, Nicole Richie, Betsy Sodaro, and Beverly D'Angelo. It looks like Kathy Bates is dropping the best lines in this.

Watch: Alex Goddard's Amusing 'Learning to Skateboard at 40' Short
By Alex Billington
Learning to Skateboard at 40 Short Film
"It's completely secluded. You can skate with no shame here." How many people tried skateboarding when they were a kid? And how many gave up quickly after trying? Has this kind of "giving up" mentality come to haunt you the rest of your life? What is worth giving up and what isn't? How to decide? So many existential questions come to mind while watching this fun short film. Learning to Skateboard at 40 is a new short (under 8 minutes!!) made by filmmaker Alex Goddard from Brighton. It's not really a documentary, per se, it's more of an amusing narrative film reflecting on life and getting older and not giving up. Starring Alex Goddard, Chris Sav, Barney Taylor, Lucy Jordan. This is one of those shorts you have to click [play] on and trust you'll be off on an unforgettable adventure. This adventure is, uh, well - trying to skate at 40 years old.

Petaluma Lycanthrope Comedy Film 'Werewolf Serenade' Official Trailer
By Alex Billington
Werewolf Serenade Trailer
"If you do have it, don't spread it." The first full trailer has debuted for an indie comedy called Werewolf Serenade, filmed in & around the city of Petaluma, California (same place as American Graffiti or Peggy Sue Got Married). The film is premiering in a few weeks at AVFest, and out later this year. It's a campy, low-budget indie dramedy about a middle-aged couple navigating the humorous challenges of transforming into a werewolf. When the burnt-out college professor Peter MacTire accidentally becomes a werewolf after his colleague turns up dead, he and his concert cellist wife Julia embrace the change to thwart an evil occultist plot, save the college, and their marriage. Hopefully. Starring writer / director Daedalus Howell as Peter, with Emily Keyishian, Mark P. Robinson, Alia Beeton, Christopher Sawyer, Rapheal Gavin, and Natalie Crafts. Yet another super low budget werewolf film, lots of them these days. Not exactly expecting this to win any prizes, but it does look like some small town kooky fun. Especially if you're into werewolves.

Snoop + Keith Urban Music Video for Animated 'The Garfield Movie'
By Alex Billington
The Garfield Movie Music Video
"I let it roll, I let it ride, I let it go, I let it slide right by." Sony Pictures has debuted an amusing music video for The Garfield Movie, and since it kind of counts as another trailer (it's all footage from the movie) we're posting it below. The Garfield Movie is made by Sony Animation and Mark Dindal, the filmmaker who also directed The Emperor's New Groove and Chicken Little. The plot features Garfield reuniting with his long-lost father, a scruffy street cat, then ending up involved in a high-stakes heist with him (and Odie). Chris Pratt stars as the voice of the sarcastic, lasagna-loving tabby, alongside the voices of Samuel L. Jackson as his father Vic, Nicholas Hoult, Cecily Strong, Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, Bowen Yang, and Ving Rhames. The cute teaser trailer debuted last year, and the official trailer arrived a month ago. This track features the musicians Keith Urban and Snoop Dogg singing / rapping about letting bad feelings go, or something like that. Wish they'd made a song about lasagna or cheese instead of this. Oh well.

Watch: 'Alberto and The Beast' - An Engrossing Sasquatch Short Film
By Alex Billington
Alberto and The Beast Short Film
The story of a man and a beast. This entrancing short film is titled Alberto and The Beast and it played at last year's Toronto Film Festival. After screening at festivals it's now online to enjoy - all 17 minutes of it. While working for a children's show, a wildlife researcher encounters Bigfoot in the woods. Alberto and The Beast is written and directed by John Paul Lopez-Ali, starring Bruno Kanter as Alberto. (He looks a lot like Burn Gorman.) This is also the perfect companion piece to the other Bigfoot movie arriving in theaters later this month - Sasquatch Sunset from the Zellner Brothers (big fan of this film, highly recommend it). Both Sunset and Alberto approach sasquatches with the same sensibilities - they're misunderstood creatures and humans shouldn't just see them as a rare phenomenon to capture on camera. I do wish there was a bit more going on with Alberto and his new friend in this short, but it's a good one anyway. Click on play below.

Watch: 'The Day After The Day After' - An Existential Crisis Short Film
By Alex Billington
The Day After The Day After Short Film
"I guess you just popped into my mind, and uh..." Who would you call when you're having an existential crisis? Is there anyone you need to reconnect with? The Day After The Day After is a short film written and directed by filmmaker Sam Benenati, riffing on the gripping existential fear that washes over anyone who watches this iconic movie about a nuclear attack. Starring Brian DeMarco as Frank. This intro from our friends at Short of the Weeks sums it up: "The writer/director of this film, Sam Benenati, does not truly care about the 1983 made-for-TV movie The Day After [watch it here] or its cultural legacy, but latching onto a nostalgic event does serve as an intriguing hook for his sometimes spartan short, and as clever shorthand for communicating Frank's distressed headspace." It's sort of a dark comedy, though it gets super emotional as it plays out. Either way, this is a great short with a fantastic performance from this Frank guy.
