The Symbolism of Red lips

The Last stage of the spiritual path is ego death – the annihilation of the ego. But this requires the ego to ‘die’ voluntarily - so how does it do this? And more important why should it do this? Voluntary ego death is usually only possible for a reason and the best reason is a 'loved one' capable of being visualised - but incapable of being ‘experienced’ physically - something that can be , or someone [living or dead] who can be, the focus of this love – total and absolute devotion - worship in essence. And when we raise a female to this status, one of the key symbols used in their portrayal, is that they have Red Lips.
