Post-Conditioning Pressing

I had intended on pressing heavy today but I had to wait a meaningful period of time just to get a bench much less the dumbbells I wanted. What I did instead for incline is higher volume with my previous working weight. I did multiple sets in the 10-15 range with shorter breaks between sets for expediency and as an intensification technique.

Next, I did my favorite Hoist machine press. Same here, counting the volume trend. I did multiple sets of 10-15 and again abbreviated the rest periods. Since I’m well recovered and left some in the tank during Conditioning, today is going to be a “death by volume” kind of approach as opposed to more of a heavier loading stimulus.

Next, having done a dumbbell and a machine movement, I did “Louie’s” or barbell pushups as my final press rounding the session out with calisthenics. Since my pecs are “good n” plentied” at this point I opt for a closer grip with the Louie’s to bias the triceps a bit more. I did these in the 20+ rep range the last couple sets pretty close to failure.

Last, because I have the resources to eat the fatigue cost, I’m throwing in a final, tricep isolation movement to finish the job. I do overhead close-grip cable extensions with the Ez-Curl attachment. These were pretty much to 0-RIR/Failure at 15-20 reps/set.
