Thieves are pretending to be roofers to steal from the elderly

Two men posing as roofers are taking advantage of elderly people in Hendricks County and stealing items from inside their houses. According to the Plainfield Police Department, two men knock on doors of elderly people and say they're roofers offering to give estimates. When one man takes the homeowner around to look at the roof, the other goes into the house and steals items. A police spokesperson said there was one report of the theft over the weekend, and police have noticed similar reports filed recently.
