These Two Rats Really Are Expert Swimmers

Rats are naturally very good swimmers and usually settle near streams and other reservoirs. Just like every other living creature on the face of this gorgeous planet, they too need water for some basic needs, like quenching their thirst and taking the occasional bath. That’s right, they do like to clean themselves. Or take the occasional swim.

Just check these two out as they enjoy an afternoon dip in the pool! Their owners have a floatie up and ready for them, while the two merry men take a rest on it. When the human tries to overturn the floatie, the rats give their best shot at staying on it, but the damn thing is too slippery on the other side and they eventually lose their grip. Plop and in they went, back in the water.

If it were anything else, they might have slapped the water and whined for help, but not these two. Like stealth submarines, the began finding their way towards the next dry surface, which happens to be another pool floatie. They probably got tired from the distance, which isn’t all that tiny for a rat anyway, so they kinda pushed the float towards the edge of the pool and just clambered out of there. That’s enough of cardio for one day.

However cute and cool this is to watch, we would like to urge you not to try this at home with your own pet rat. Be considerate of them; they are, after all, living creatures with their own desires and fears. If they don’t feel comfortable in the water, do not make them go in. Simple as that.
