The Tarot Card of the World

The World (XXI) is the 21st trump or Major Arcana card in the tarot deck. The Major Arcana of the Tarot is essentially celestial - spiritual. Thus the 'World' Tarot card is the culmination of the spiritual path for all those from the Minor Arcana. But it is the start for all those who have become "immortals" and thus joined the Major Arcana. A naked woman ‘dances’ within a circle. Nakedness in this context symbolises her spiritual state. Each corner is filled by the "four living creatures", but these are found outside the ‘wreath’. As such she has passed beyond the "Elements" - the mundane and has entered the "centre". All the roles in the Major Arcana perform some helping function - except the Fool - who is so spiritually remote he is inaccessible. But all those struggling on the path and in the Minor Arcana may well meet a spirit from the Major Arcana who provides assistance, but they will probably never be aware they had "angelic help". In this video we will look at the general symbolism of The World card, but also explain some specific ones, those of Salvador Dali, Rider-Waite, Oswald Wirth, Aleister Crowley and The LightSeers Tarot.
