I am Sofía Parada Vayá. I was on a honeymoon with my husband and my 7 year old son in Cancun. My husband is in an induced coma after drowning due to cardiac arrest, probably caused by a digestion cut in the hotel pool and the travel insurance does not want to pay for the hospitalisation costs, as they are very high and the maximum allowed according to the policy has been exceeded in just 2 days.

Adrian had to be assisted after drowning by the hotel staff and was rushed to the nearest hospital.

Once there they managed to revive his vital signs, but he was still unconscious and had to be moved again to another hospital with more medical resources due to the seriousness of his condition.

As of today Adrián is still in a coma, he is in a critical phase.

The Spanish embassy is aware of everything, but they tell us that they can do nothing beyond providing information, but they cannot repatriate him to be admitted to a Spanish hospital as has happened in a similar case in Thailand, nor can they cover the hospitalisation costs of around 8000 euros per day, a real barbarity. This is another problem for us.

We need to spread the news as much as possible, to make viral the complicated situation we are going through.

Our family and friends are taking up a collection to help us cope with all these payments, where anyone who wants to help, any donation, however small, is of great help to us.

We need to wake up from this nightmare and for the 3 of us to be able to return home, but above all for Adrián to recover.
