United Methodist Church Votes For Gay-Lesbian Regions & Dr. Harper from DC

Dr. Chaps reports that the United Methodist Church General Conference has advanced a measure meant to allow different regions of the global denomination to determine their own standards on LGBT issues. At the Thursday plenary session of the General Conference, delegates voted 586-164 in favor of a petition for an amendment to the UMC's constitution allowing for regionalization.

There's a big battle over prayer in Lumberton, North Carolina. The school board in Robeson County always opens their meetings with a word of prayer. It was a prayer delivered by board member Henry Brewer that triggered some local atheists.
