DAY ONE || Camino del Norte

Welcome back to the Camino de Santiago… this place always beckons me back.

All-in-all a great first day despite the rain and long bus ride up.

No injuries. All flip flop walking. Body feels pretty good so far.

A short 13km day was wise because my legs are new again to long-distance hiking and this route has some very long stretches with less resources and accommodations.

Sooo… my backpack is 20lb! A large percentage of this weight is due to my precious hygiene products and vitamins.

There are certain things I will not sacrifice.

Once checked into my albergue I met a small handful of pilgrims. Tomorrow, I imagine some conversations will ensue.
