French President Macron on Trade Relations With China

05/13/2024 French President Macron discusses his view on trade relations with China. He says: “On all the different sectors, what we want is just reciprocity. We want and in fact more than just regarding the relation with China, a level playing field. We want to be sure that in terms of tariffs, subsidies, and rules of production, we have fair competition. So Europe has got to get tougher now. This is a necessity not because we are protectionists, but just because we want to protect our region.”
