A priest in Judah, Jehoida, was a righteous man, successfully led the people to follow God. But the kings were doing a lot of very bad things. One king killed all of his brothers (or so he thought) to have the kingdom to himself. His mother was just as bad, and she had others killed to secure her reign after her son died. And other kings behaved badly, particularly after Jehoida had passed away. These sinful men received what sin promises- death. And they died, many of them, in brutal ways. But the Lord kept his promise and kept a son of David on the throne.
