The Sending Out of the 70 Laborers as Messengers of the Savior

The Great Gospel of John Volume 7, Chapter 166 revealed by Jesus thru Jakob Lorber

The Lord says:
1. Right away Nicodemus called his present servants and sent them down to bring sufficient bread and wine. And just as they were instructed, they went down as quickly as possible and brought sufficient bread and wine.

2. Once the task was taken care of, I called the still present 70 laborers to Me (Luke 10:1), and I said to them: "Here are bread and wine! Take, eat and drink and strengthen yourselves, because thereafter I will send you out before Me to cities, markets and villages, to prepare the people for My coming. But first, eat and drink. Thereafter, we shall talk further about this important matter."

3. Thereupon, those who were called took bread and wine and strengthened themselves.

4. When they were finished, they gave thanks, and one of them said: "Now, Lord and Master, we are ready to receive the instructions that You, by Your grace, wish to impart to us! May your will be done; may it alone be our future strength and vigor!"

5. Said I: "Well, all right then! Behold, the harvest is great, the field ripe with fruits stretches across the entire Earth, but there are still very few laborers. Therefore, ask the Lord of the harvest to send out many laborers." (Luke 10:2)

6. Said the speaker: "Yes, Lord, for this reason are we asking You, for You alone are the Lord of the harvest."

7. Said I: "Then go, 2 by 2, to all the places of the Jewish land, and even to the land of the Samaritans.

8. I am sending you as lambs among the wolves, yet you need not fear them, for My strength will give you courage against them. (Luke 10:3) Therefore, carry no purse, no bags, no sticks, no shoes on your feet, and neither shall you wear 2 skirts. Be earnest, and yet gentle as well. Do not greet anyone on the street, and neither demand of anyone to greet you, for all of you truly are the same children of one and the same Father in Heaven. (Luke 10:4) Only One is your Lord and Master, but all of you are brothers. May your greeting be the true, mutual brotherly and neighborly love. Whatever is less or more than that is evil. Thereby they will recognize that you truly are My disciples, by the fact that you love one another, just as I love you.

9. But wherever you will enter a house, speak thus: 'Peace unto this house!' (Luke 10:5) If there is a child of peace, then your peace shall rest upon him as well. If this is not the case, then your peace will return to you. (Luke 10:6) Where you will find peace, in that house you shall stay, eating and drinking without fear or conscientious objection to whatever will be set before you, for if you are in a house as laborers for God’s Kingdom, then you are, just as any other zealous worker, worthy of your wages.

10. Once 2 of you have been taken up into a house, then remain there and do not go from one house to another in order to be provided for, for that is not right. You do not enter this house as some beggars afraid of work, but as abundantly gifted messengers of My Word, and thereby, as deliverers of the true Kingdom of God and His eternal blessing. (Luke 10:7)

11. Even if you came to a city with mostly gentiles, and you were shown hospitality and invited into their homes, then you shall stay there as well, eating whatever they will put on the table. For not what enters the mouth of man makes him unclean, but what emerges therefrom. What it is exactly that emerges from the mouth of man and makes him unclean, I have clearly shown you already on the Mount of Olives. (Luke 10:8)

12. However, if you arrive in a city, or someplace else, where no one will give you accommodation, then go out into the open alleys and streets, and say: 'Even the dust of your city clinging to our feet, we shake off back at you! But you should know that the kingdom of God was near to you!' (Luke 10:10-11)

13. However, I tell you: The day that I have shown you upon the Mount of Olives, on that day even the city of Sodom will be better off than those places that wish not to accept you. Woe to you, Chorazin, woe to you, Bethsaida! If what happened among you would have happened in Tyre and Sidon, then they would have repented in dust and ashes! And so, even Tyre will be better off on the day of judgment than you will! And you, Capernaum, exalted unto Heaven, will be cast into Hell!" (Luke 10:12-15)

14. At this point, some of My first disciples spoke amongst themselves: "Behold, again He is kindled in His zeal against those cities which He had already threatened before in this manner when we were in Kis near Kisjonah! Indeed, it is true that there, as far as the whole place is concerned, He has discovered very little faith, but some of them still accepted and recognized Him as the true Son of God, and as the Mediator of the Jews. We too belong to Capernaum. It is curious what His deal is with Capernaum on certain days."

15 I said to the puzzled disciples: "What are you sulking about among yourselves? What is Chorazin, what is Bethsaida, and what is Capernaum? These are the ones who do not want to accept My teaching and, despite all the signs, do not believe that I am the promised Messiah who has now come into this world! I had already sent you out ahead of Me to the cities and other places before, and how were you received in certain cities? You called fire from heaven upon them! Can it surprise you now that on this occasion, when I am again sending disciples out before Me into the world of abominations, I repeat that very sentence so that they too may know how to behave towards such people whom I designate by the name of those very cities in which you have not fared well at all?

16. That is why I now say to all of you, and not only to these 70: Whoever will hear you, will hear Me as well; whoever will despise you, will despise Me as well. However, he who despises Me, will certainly despise Him who has sent Me into this world, for I and He are one."

17. Hereupon I stretched out My hands over the 70, saying: "Accept the power of My will. When you will come upon all manner of sick and crippled people, lay your hands upon them in My name, and things will get better for them. When you come upon those possessed by devils (unclean spirits in the flesh), then command them in My name as well, for then they will leave the body of those tormented, going wherever you command them to go.

18. In addition, I give you power over the evil spirits in the air, over those in the water and over those in the caves of the Earth. Furthermore, I grant you power to tread on scorpions and walk over snakes, to chase away all your enemies, and nothing will be able to harm you.

19. Be not afraid to travel the roads after dark, and do not fear the storms, lightning and thunder, for even over these things you carry authority. The malicious animals of the forests and deserts will flee before your gaze. Equipped such as you are, you may now go, dressed the way you are.

20 "But remember this also: I have now given you all this freely, and so you should distribute it again to worthy people; but you should not throw these pearls before the swine of men! And now lift yourselves up and go where the Spirit will lead you!"

21. Then the seventy thanked Me for such great gifts of grace and departed two by two in all directions.
