The Tudor Submariner Watch That Took A Bullet In Vietnam ⌚💥🔫

The story of two remarkable men and one unforgettable watch. It's the incredible story of how a Tudor Submariner played a part in forging a lasting bond between 1st Lieutenant, USMC, Barry Jones, and 3rd Hospital Corpsman, USN, Lorrie McLaughlin, bridging a 50-year gap between the battlefield in Vietnam and their lives today.

Tudor is a sister company of Rolex. In the early days of Tudor, Rolex produced Tudor's cases, crowns and bracelets. Often these bore Rolex markings that later evolved into Tudor markings. The main difference between the two brands was; Tudor used less expensive off-the-shelf ETA movements, while Rolex used their own in-house Caliber movements. Outside of this, Rolex and Tudor watches had nearly identical DNA, such as both producing the Submariner dive watch.

These were high quality tool watches, not luxury items as we've seen the brands become today. They were designed to keep running and tell accurate time in the harshest environments on earth, and were used almost expressly for this purpose, not as status symbols.

Today, Tudor and Rolex have separated into their own distinct companies, still under the same parent company umbrella; Montres. Both watch brands are exquisite timepieces capable of functioning flawlessly in a variety of harsh elements, but since the 'Quartz Crisis' they've had to reinvent their brands as luxury items to not lose market share to Japanese watch companies such as Seiko and Casio.
