TWO PARTY STATE

A two party state, it's been so for years, opposing viewpoints for the public to vote
Times are a changing, left and right all merged left, religious persuasion now of note
Spiritual sectarianism, your chosen party prescribe, you follow who verbalise your god
Sanctioned information, craved and drip fed, delighting attentive mob
Pick a side you must choose, based on devout values, hear support for the common cause
Display empathy, say the right words for thee, then pause to rapturous applause
Complete lack of ethics, dysfunctional at best, impartiality should not be a request
Pushing just the one side, to those who subscribe, sequester affinity at your behest
Career politicians, ruling the roost, tell lies and deceive without frown
Never apologise, for policies that failed, to the public they chose to let down
Many postal ballots go to leaders, they will decide, for whom your vote will be
Some determine en mass, when their preacher speaks out, and everyone there will agree
People deface ballot paper, or just leave them blank, others don't bother at all
Allow religious rule, become involuntary fool, complacency our downfall
